I’m still in an older campy movies mood and ended up rewatching Grease 2 the other night. Ever since the song “Cool Rider” has been stuck in my head, along with the scene where she rides with Michael curled around him in reverse. My brain has this weird obsession with repeatedly wanting to listen to a song that tickles my fancy at the moment until I end up where I can’t stand it for a while, so “Cool Rider” it is for now. *laugh*
I decided to play with that concept, although I went with the singing scene outfit for her instead of the work outfit. My absolute favorite one is the sunset shot where she’s curled around him from the front; a little more like the movie and so sweet I should be passing out insulin shots to readers. *grin* I also went off on a tangent of thinking what it might have been like if he had taken her to the shop while working on the motorcycle, after tutoring.
Inspired by the thought of Michael taking her to the workshop earlier plus the same from a slightly different angle, just because I like that angle too and it’s my post, so I can put extras that I like. *laugh*
For once I’m glad that my mind is stuck on repeat, because it inspired what I think is a cute and fun set of pictures. Plus, I got to roleplay as the beautiful Michelle Pfeiffer for just a few minutes of my life. *grin* I hope you enjoyed and I’ll follow up with the credits in case anyone is interested in buying or visiting (a few I collected along the way and have no SLurls for – sorry!). Have a wonderful day!
The riding took place at Gale Retreat (an absolutely beautiful photographic sim I cannot recommend enough if you haven’t been there yet).
The garage scene took place at Comhar with the built in poses.
Cool Rider: SSP – Motorcycle Couples (MP; built in poses, using LeLutka Axis and HD HUD to adjust, as usual)
Bre is wearing:
A&CO – Vintage Sweater Blouse (darks)
Neve Pant – Bootlegger Leather (Heels are built in)
Truth VIP former GG – Reyane (If you’re hesitant to join due to group fees, Truth is super generous with at least 12 guaranteed gifts a year, plus incredible sales, so it’s a group I think is worth it!)
One of my guilty pleasures are cheesy 80s and 90s movies, so I have the Cry- Baby movie nearly memorized by now. I thought it would be kind of fun to live in that world for a bit for a shoot, especially with Luke having a young Johnny Depp vibe (another guilty pleasure *laugh*). I definitely took creative license with some of it, but used certain scenes for inspiration. Although I’ll explain the scene that inspired the pictures, I’ll try to leave out enough for those that haven’t watched it and want to after reading about it.
If you’ve seen the movie, you know that it starts out at a high school in 1950s Baltimore, and the main background of the story is the usual forbidden love, the Drapes versus the Squares; the juvenile deliquents vs. the “good” kids (similar theme as Romeo and Juliet, West Side Story, The Outsiders, etc.). The main characters are Allison and Wade “Cry-Baby” Walker; the square and the drape, who notice each other while getting mandatory vaccinations at school. He often has a single tear falling from his left eye, hence the nickname. Allison is intrigued by the bad boy that is so different from her unofficial boyfriend and Cry-Baby is definitely interested in the personality behind her square upbringing. After school that day they end up running into one another outside while Allison is waiting for a ride.
“You’re a pretty little square. Do you want to hang out with us Drapes tonight?”
Later in the movie Cry-Baby shows up at her grandmother’s house (where she lives) on his new motorcycle to see if she’d like to go to a hangout to hear him sing.
Allison to Grandma: “Please? I’ve been a good girl! Just one night of happiness is all I ask.”
So off they go and of course she ends up singing with “King Cry Baby” after his friends give her a makeover, making her into what his sister calls “a scrape – part square, part drape”.
“You’ll be my queen and I’ll be your king Yeah but if you leave my hive, you’re gonna feel my sting
‘Cause you’re my queen (chorus: Queen cry-baby) (Allison) You’re the king (chorus: King cry-baby) King and queen (chorus: Cry-cry baby)
And they’re teens among a big group of teens, so of course there’s making out in the grass and talking. I went with some different poses for this, so it’s not just the expected or anything that might be PG. *grin*
Just a little talking and stargazing
And the G version of makeout hill *laugh*
Of course there is a misunderstanding, manipulation, and a bunch of teen angst with tears from them both. I ran across a themed prop at an event a while back that I couldn’t resist and it ended up being perfect for this. (For once it worked out well that I’m an inventory hoarder. *grin*)
Drinking tears. A disgusting and amusing play on the usual teen tear-fest.
Later in the movie Cry-Baby gets sent to a juvenile detention center and Allison gets him released with some sexy singing and dancing after Allison becomes all vamp hottie in a low neckline dress, because, you know, that’s what gets a boy released. *laugh* That whole scene is a favorite and there was no way I’d capture the over-the-top silliness and sexiness of the beginning of the song and their singing phone call, so I just did a “smoldering” animation of the call.
There’s a fun bit after his release, to close the movie out, which I don’t want to ruin, but the last moment is a shot of them together crying happy tears, so of course I had to do that. Unfortunately the LeLutka tears on Bre didn’t show very well this time and the LeLutka Guy head doesn’t have a tear option, so I used a tattoo, but didn’t figure out until after everything how to tint the tattooed tear drop. So be creative and imagine adorable glycerin-thick streaks of tears. *laugh*
I had a lot of fun changing things up (never done blonde before!) It was also quite a challenge to capture the silly vibe.

I tried my hand at a backdrop gacha and won the scene from the beginning, where the Hogwarts invitations came flying out of the chimney. For my purposes, it happened this time for a class reunion and Bre and Luke are preparing for the trip as soon as they started getting the swarm of invitations flying.
For this shot I used:
The Beginning – Lovely Magic Backdrop – The Bearded Guy
Luas Magic Travel Trolley Classic
Torchi Owl Statue (in the Trolley cage)
Floorplan Leather Couch Set
*SN~ Short Stacked (AKA: Something New Props and Poses store; it’s the short set of books Bre is standing on for them to hold each other)
For Bre, other than the usual info, I used:
L&B (Lapointe Bastchild) Swear Oct GG Tank Top – Womens
TRUTH Zahlee – Redhead
Maitreya – KC – Jacy Sneakers
Neve short – Watson – Lara
While Luke is in:
Stealthic – Narcotic (Unrigged)
..::ILLI::.. Signature Sergio Sneakers (L&R)
L&B * GIANNIfit* L&B Swear Oct GG T-shirt – Mens
RIOT / Billy Bootcut Jeans – Signature Gianni
Next, they travelled to Hogwarts utilizing the built in poses of the backdrop, although not all poses were used.
KraftWork – The Wizard Express Backdrop
Bre is using:
TRUTH Daphne – Redhead (all other pics of Bre)
LeLutka Axis HUD Face
::GB:: IGNIS Fire / Female Outfit with built in shoes (all other pictures)
Halo – Troubled Tree Twig – Shoulder Pet
While Luke is using in addition to the same hair:
Nishi: Uniform Harry Potter

I had some fun using some Quidditch items. Bre and Luke are using the same items as in the train, except for Bre’s shoulder pet.
“So close!”“Ahhhh!”“Oh, I’m gonna get you this time!”
Quidditch Pitch Box by Dmaze, modified
Same information as on the train, along with:
::eXpression:: Props – WindChaser Broomstick (Inc: Bludger, Beater’s Equipment, Quaffle, Golden Snitch, built in poses for each type of broomstick)
I decided to then finish up this themed shoot, which I’ll probably revisit the theme later on because it was so much fun, by having them do some classroom work and improve on their rusty skills, after years of living among Muggles.

“Okay, time to try a spell finally.”
“Oops! I can’t believe the spell went wrong!”
“Hmmm…maybe I got a word wrong in the spell…”
“Oh no! I gave the cup a rat tail instead of transfiguring correctly!”
“Yikes! Thank goodness I jumped back!”
“Let’s try adding a bit of this to the mix and see if this goes safely…”

I’m sorry this post was so picture heavy, but I got so inspired I couldn’t stop staging scenes with this theme. Sometimes you just have to let that nerd/geek flag fly! 😀
This was originally blogged over on my personal/business site, so I’m making it my first post on my new SL dedicated blog.
I’ve been using Second Life photography as a creative outlet as part of my recommended PTSD therapy. I am slowly getting better with editing, staging shoots, and uploading to Flickr. It actually had a secondary benefit recently! One of my favorite pose designers, ~X.T.C PoSes~, sent me a blogger’s box of poses they’ll be selling at The Chapter Four event in SL tomorrow, March 4th, for the ten days that it is open. It included a whole set of female poses, the Sweet as Candy set, and one couples pose, Peaceful Silence. It was totally unexpected and incredibly exciting, so I rushed out into the Grid to get creative. After a ton of pictures, I finally picked ones taken at our recently renovated home/landscape and Backdrop City, and dragged Luke into most of them to make little scenes. I’m really proud of my first “professional” set of SL pictures and my editing, so I decided to blog them instead of just adding to Flickr. If you’re on SL, I’d definitely recommended checking out the company and consider joining the group. Their bento poses work with very little adjustment, even with Bre in a Maitreya body and Luke in Signature’s Gianni. If you’d like to look at the photostream, please check out my Flickr at https://www.flickr.com/gp/124931994@N02/pqbZ6A. And yes, I have been in a bit of a Boho vibe and am totally obsessed with my Celtic and Elven combo body tattoo I bought at an event recently. *laugh* (**Edit: By the time this site goes live, the event will be over, but please check out their store for excellent poses and keep an eye out for these poses to hopefully pop up in store soon! -Bre**)
The above were all taken at home. They are poses 3, 5, 4, 1, and 2, respectively. (Note, the 4th pose has two hand positions and this is the first, and is also my favorite shot out of these *smile*.)
These were taken at Backdrop City and thankfully I could drag Luke along to up the ante of the sweet poses. They are poses 5, 3, and a second take on pose 3, respectively.
This is the couples pose, Peaceful Silence, that we took at home. Note that they are poseballs, so it was super easy to move them into place over the lounger, so the limbs could hang over. I wasn’t so sure how to set the scene for this one, so I titled it as requesting at least a five minute massage please. *laugh* The exhausted look to the pose seemed to call for the dark windlight and filter.
All in all I had an absolute blast and was so honored to get to do this, especially when it’s so therapeutic for me, as well. It’s also a huge bonus to save money from buying more poses, so I can spend it on props for setting some scenes.
**Although I didn’t have this blog up in time for these poses to get purchased at the event, I still stand by my statement that you should definitely check the store out! Here’s their marketplace HERE and then the in world SLurl here.
